It is with profound sadness that HASF announces the passing of Robert M. Leon on March 22, 2021.
Robert was a Board Member of the Haight Ashbury Street Fair (HASF) since 1979 and served as the Executive Director/Producer from 2007 – 2019. In June 2019, Robert was awarded a Certificate of Honor from the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in recognition of his commitment in Community Arts & Events.
Through his community involvement Robert had the opportunity to meet many people and build relationships that meant a lot to him.
We have set up a GoFundMe fund raiser for Robert’s final arrangements. Any contribution you can find in your heart to make would be greatly appreciated. On behalf of Robert’s friends and family, we are grateful for your support.

The “Children’s Halloween Hootenanny”, is a free event designed to provide the children of the Haight-Ashbury and surrounding neighborhoods with a safe and fun place to celebrate the spirit of Halloween, is just around the corner. And we need your help in making this the best one yet.
Check out who is participating this year!
The event features a theme each year and is always on the Saturday before Halloween, from 11 am until 4:00 pm at the Stanyan Street and Waller Street cul-de-sac next to Kezar Pavilion in San Francisco. Sponsored by the Haight-Ashbury Street Fair, this event will include a costume contest, performers, exhibitions and creative hands-on activities designed to entertain children of all ages. Of course, this event will be strictly supervised and monitored to ensure the safety and amusement of all participants.
We are currently seeking the financial and material assistance from companies, organizations and individuals to enable us to provide a thoroughly delightful experience. All donations are tax- deductible and greatly appreciated. Below are some of the categories you may consider:
Last year’s “Children’s Halloween Hootenanny” drew more than 200 children and parents, over 20 contributors. We had many neighborhood folks who volunteered, donated goods and made financial donations.
Please let us know how you can help to make this a great time for the children. Please contact me, Monique Woodhams at 628.200.1058 or Michael Xavier at 415-368.4745 at your earliest convenience and let us know how you can be an active participant in this event.
