MERLE SAUNDERS 1934 - 2008

The HASF mourns the passing of Merle Saunders who had a significant presence in the Bay Area music scene. For over 25 years, he and his band performed for at the annual Haight-Ashbury celebration. As the closing band, his music was always upbeat and brought the day's festivities to a wonderful conclusion. The 2009 HASF will be dedicated to Merle's memory. He will always be appreciated for his generosity and kindness.
